Folkestone Ladies 2nds Vs Gravesend

  • W 2-1
  • Gravesend

Folkestone ladies 2nd’s welcomed Gravesend to Cheriton Road on Saturday hoping to keep their undefeated record maintained.  Folkestone had all the early possession with Becca Shaw putting in numerous balls for forwards Jess Wilson and Adrienne Rowe to try and put away but both had numerous attempts saved.  The midfield combination of Lou Duckett, Sarah Morris and Amber Gillespie linked excellently to provide a further series of opportunities but Folkestone were still somehow thwarted.  The second half started in a similar vein with Folkestone had all the possession but the girls were very unlucky to go 1-0 through an undeserved Gravesend goal.  After some tricky moments where keeper Amy Bumstead was forced to clear her lines strongly, Em Pullen took matters into her own and drove into the D and unleashed a thunderbolt strike to bring the scores level.  Folkestone continued to push and thought they were not going to get the result they deserved until a short corner was awarded and time was up.  As the corner still had to be taken, all the girls piled in a goal with the first strike saved but Wilson was on hand to slip the ball in behind the stranded Gravesend keeper to get the result that was deserved.
