Folkestone Ladies 3rds Vs Tundbridge Wells
Folkestone travelled away to an early game at Tunbridge Wells. The ladies arrived in a spritely mood and enjoyed an active Zumba style warm up led by Rachel Brazier. The game started well with good driving runs on the left wing by Dani Mynard, linking play with Julie Griffin and Michelle Phillips. The deadlock was broken following a short corner; the ball was injected by Kersten Jebbett to Michelle Phillips who made a shot at goal, the ball rebounded off the keeper but fell neatly to Erin Fuller who took the second chance shot, which resulted in the first goal. Goal Keeper, Helen Rose controlled her strong defence players Rachel Darling, Rachel Brazier and Toni Marsh and they thwarted all penetrating attacks from Tunbridge Wells forwards, and there were a few young fast players to contend with. Folkestone dominated the first half but the score remained 1-0 at half time. A good, directive team talk from stand-in team coach Barry Fuller motivated the team to come out in the second half more resolute to win with a greater score.
The team began to pass the ball in all directions confidently, listening to calls and using play practiced in training. The midfield of Erin Fuller, Jenny Garrard, Kersten Jebbett and Emily Brough passed the ball around with confidence and worked well together to drive the ball successfully time and time again up the right hand side of the pitch. The second goal came from a direct shot at goal by Michelle Phillips from a short corner, she struck the ball which deflected off the stick of a defender and then flew into the top left hand corner of the net. The final goal came from a sideline driving pass from Kersten Jebbett into the D where Dani Mynard confidently swept the ball into the goal.
A fantastic result Ladies 3s and keep it up.
