The ladies 2nd Xl had a great start to the year with a 2-0 win against Gillingham Anchorians. The first 15 minutes were slow play and there was no hope of Folkestone getting into a lead but then Leah Smithard brought it to a 1-0 lead when scoring from the penalty spot. Folkestone continued to play a very attacking game and managed to pressure Anchorians back into there own half with Ashley Hill creating a strong lead scoring the second goal to bring the score to 2-0. Folkestone held out for the rest of the game with strong saves from Goal Keeper Amy Bumstead nothing was getting in her goal! Her saves were closely followed by Louise Ducket’s impressive save in the defensive short corner; she angled her stick on the post to send the ball over the goal and keeping our lead.  Great play was shown throughout the game with a strong side and Ops played as they mean to go on!
