Ladies 3rd XI v Burnt Ash (L) Saturday 8th February

February 9, 2020

A home game for the girls and the weather was perfect. After last weeks game the girls put their positive heads back on and were ready to go.
First push back for Folkestone and we were off. Everyone was working hard and Op’s fought to keep possession of the ball.
In the first half Folkestone was unlucky not to score despite the amount of short corners!
Half way into the first half Burnt Ash managed to get one passed the defense and score which was disappointing for Folkestone but we remained positive and got to half time.
A good team talk at half time and a few changes in positions saw Folkestone go out for the second half strong. Within minutes the attackers made a great breakthrough and Michelle Phillips made a great run to the D and smashed the ball across to the post to Gill Steer who had a strike but the keeper saved it and then Steer picked up the rebound and tapped it mid air straight passed the keeper! Taking Folkestone to 1-1.
This lifted Folkestone’s spirits and the whole team fought really hard. It wasn’t long before Folkestone got awarded another short corner, this was injected by Cleo Steer to Phillips who swept it to Bates on the slip and Bates smashed it straight in taking us to 2-1.
The game ended with a 2-1 Win.
Man of the match was shared between Gill Steer and Libby Kelvie. 👏
