The Old Bordenian’s needed a win to secure the Division 4 Championship, the Folkestone Optimist’s spoilt their party with a gritty performance.
The Old Bordenian’s start a furious pace, being cheered on by their supporters for the side line and clubhouse balcony. But the Folkestone’s defence of Brian Murrill and Charlie Rouse and Karl Dodd keeping goal held. The half backs, Glen Philp, John Turner and Owen Gosford were also were behind the ball to assist. After 15 minutes of pressure, Folkestone pushed up field, with the inside forwards Dougie Ferguson and Jim McGilloway and Cullum Parker and Andy Whitham running the wings, with Chris Jeffrey loitering in the D. Sadly Charlie Rouse got bad knee injury, so the super sub Chris Harler replaced him in defence.
